Not pro-actively managing sub-contractors increases the risk that your projects will experience costly delays and rework, not to mention losses to people, property, and the environment.

In most jurisdictions in Canada, Prime Contractors have a duty to ensure that every person on the jobsite complies with safety legislation. 

What subs do or fail to do can be a liability that Prime Contractors can never recover from. Examples include prosecutions, fines and reputational damage. 

On the other hand, effective management helps ensure the right sub-contractor does the job correctly the first time and contributes to the projects success. It is simply good business management.
